Mr Matt RunacusDeputy Headteacher
Mr Matt Runacus
I have been teaching for over 20 years, seven of which have been as Assistant Headteacher and now Deputy Headteacher at William Shrewsbury. My role at school is extremely varied and it keeps me very busy. I am Leader of the Year 3 and 4 Department and I really enjoy seeing the children learn and achieve in all areas of their school life. I am a huge football fan and my favourite team is Liverpool (the place that I come from). The best Liverpool player of all time is Kenny Dalglish, although Steven Gerrard comes a close second. I also play football myself and my other interests include running and going to the gym, although a lot of my time is taken up by my two children!

Mrs Heidi ElsmoreAssistant Headteacher/Inclusion Lead
Mrs Heidi Elsmore
I am Heidi Elsmore, a mum to three children and a very lively golden labrador puppy. As you can imagine, there is rarely a quiet moment at home but we love family days out and movie nights together.
I am the Acting Deputy Headteacher and Inclusion Lead at William Shrewsbury Primary School. Before completing my PGCE, my passion was psychology where I specialised in childhood development. I went into teaching with the plan to go into Educational Psychology. I started teaching at William Shrewsbury as an NQT in Year 1. This still feels like yesterday but unbelievably, is now almost 19 years ago! I loved teaching and the school family so much that I never quite made it into the world of psychology as planned. I have led Geography, ICT and Science before accepting the position of Inclusion Lead in 2014 and this is where I have been since.
I can honestly say that I love what I do and look forward to coming to work. I am lucky to work alongside an amazing inclusion team at William Shrewsbury which has allowed us to grow and develop inclusion in a very positive way. We have an excellent reputation which is a result of the hard work and dedication of the whole school and I am very proud to lead this. Whilst supporting our own pupils is a priority, I have also wanted to make a difference to young people across Staffordshire and closer to home, within our community. This has led to me working alongside other agencies and the Local Authority to plan and lead change to help ensure the needs of our children are understood and met effectively in schools. I have also enjoyed working with the growing number of schools in our Trust as the Trust Improvement Lead for SEND and I look forward to seeing how we can work together to continue to develop and embed inclusion for all in our schools.

Mrs Jackie PearsonEarly Years Lead
Mrs Jackie Pearson
I have been teaching for 34 years since I left college in 1989. My first job was in Reception at William Shrewsbury Primary School and I have never wanted to teach anywhere else! I have had experience of all year groups in Key Stage one, but Early Years is where I belong. Being part of a child's learning at the very start of their journey in school and helping them to grow into confident, creative and independent thinkers and learners is a real privilege. In my spare time I enjoy going to the theatre. I am also heavily involved in The Little Theatre Company who perform at The Brewhouse in Burton where I can often be found helping out back stage!

Mr Mike RandlesAssistant Headteacher
Mr Mike Randles
I have been a teacher for over 30 years, all of which have been at William Shrewsbury School. My role at school is different and challenging. As well as being a class teacher, I am the PE subject leader and many of you will have seen me urging your children to run faster or jump higher at sporting events. I also have school responsibilities for teaching and learning. This role takes me into every classroom in the school to help students and teachers be the best they possibly can be. My most recent role is that of assistant headteacher and department leader for Years 5 and 6. I am a huge fan of all sports, but football is my absolute favourite. (There's only one team in Liverpool and it's not Everton I'm afraid!) My other interests include DIY, gardening and cycling, but my real passion in life is my family. My wife, children and grandchildren bring me (among many other things) much joy, laughter, warmth and love

Mr Jon HealdAssistant Headteacher
Mr Jon Heald
I have been a teacher for 15 years and have been a part of the amazing team here at William Shrewsbury for 4. However, I have been a part of the school family for much longer as I was once a pupil here myself some 20(odd) years ago! I attended the University of Warwick to study Computer Science before training to be a teacher. I then lived and taught in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire for the large part of my career before heading 'back home'. I'm a passionate, enthusiastic and positive teacher that is dedicated to providing the best support and teaching for all the children in our care. I believe that by having high expectations, emotional support and by making learning fun all our children can really succeed! Outside of school, I am a huge sports fan. I am the school's token Forest fan - having had a season ticket for countless disappointing seasons with my Dad. As well as this, I love cricket and NFL. I also enjoy travelling, and have been fortunate enough to have visited over 50 countries so far. I once even drove a car to Mongolia for charity and I even taught in a school in Ghana! However, the thing I enjoy most is spending time with my family. I have twin girls, who attend the school too, and a little lad who has just turned 2. There's nothing I enjoy more than spending quality family time with them all.
